Summer Art Intensive
Summer Camp Description
Are you looking to hone your artistic skills ? This rigorous, week-long intensive is designed for ambitious artists (ages 12–17) aiming to build a portfolio for college, AP studio art, or personal development. Students will immerse themselves in classical and contemporary techniques, including portraiture, oil painting, and watercolor under the guidance of professional artists. July 27th - 31st 9:30-3:30pm $395 All Materials Included All classes are held in a home-based converted garage studio with vaulted ceiling and skylights in Swarthmore, Classes are taught by Sarah Fantuzzo and Stephanie Nicholson. Stephanie Nicholson is a figurative painter, illustrator and printmaker. She received her BFA from Syracuse University and her Masters in Art Education from Moore College of Art and Design. Ms. Nicholson’s work has been shown and collected privately and also by institutions such as the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts and the Philadelphia Sketch Club. Her most recent award was given by the Accolade Film Festival for her watercolor illustrations for the opening credits of a movie. As an educator, she has taught a wide range of students in a wide range of settings, from adults with special needs to teens at the Pennsylvania Academy of the Fine Arts. She is currently the Upper School Art Teacher at Philadelphia Classical School. She draws upon her love of art history, poetry, and the beauty of nature to inspire her students. Sarah Fantuzzo is an artist and arts educator who from a young age was fascinated by what can be communicated through the art of portraiture. She was able to pursue her love of depicting the human form at the New York Academy of Art Graduate School of Figurative Art where she earned her Masters of Fine Art in Painting. Ms. Fantuzzo has exhibited her work widely including at the Maryland Institute College of Art and Wayne Art Center. Her work has earned many awards including a Maryland State Arts Council Individual Artist grant. As an arts educator she has enjoyed sharing her love of drawing and painting from direct observation with students from kindergarten through college to continuing education in settings such as at The New York Academy of Art, Montgomery College, Philadelphia Classical School, Wayne Art Center and Eastern University.
